BLURB
Maya
My post-college plans include vlogging, drinking around the world, and following my brother as he races in every Grand Prix. I didn’t anticipate Noah Slade, Formula 1’s World Champion and resident bad boy—a damaged prince who acts like a villain. His vulnerability breaks me down and holds me captive, ruining me for any man who dares to come after him. There’s no point asking for my heart back because he’ll shatter it before I have the chance.
Noah
Fans call me the American Prince, the only son of a Formula 1 legend. I live for standing on Prix podiums while crowds chant my name, champagne drips down my face, and adrenaline rushes through my veins. Women want to screw me while men want to be me. But no one challenges me more than Maya Alatorre, the sister of my rival and new teammate. We’re a ticking time bomb, about one wrong move away from exploding. But with her, I want to trip the wire, detonating together in passion and pain. Because, in the end, all’s fair in lust and war.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Throttled was a surprised treat for me. I don’t usually read racer books because there is always something missing but with this, the writing just pulled me in.
I can honestly say that I am pleasantly surprised by the level of writing by this debut author.
After an unfortunate incident, Noah Slade has an intense dislike towards Santiago Alatorre so imagine his surprise and displeasure when Santi joins his team. With Santi comes his sister, Maya Alatorre. She is traveling with her brother to establish her blog. During Maya and Noah’s first meeting there is a misunderstanding which makes Noah end up being an a** although there is an immediate attraction on both their sides. Noah is not a forever kind of guy and the notches on his bed post can attest to that so Maya is wary of him. She doesn’t want to give into her urges because they both want different things but the sexual tension is ever growing and they both reaching their breaking point. Them being together is wrong for so many reasons and the main reason is Santi but sometimes it’s worth the risk which Noah and Maya are soon learning.
I was so happy to read that Maya didn’t drop her panties straight away for Noah. They developed a friendship first and then decided to take the leap. I loved Maya’s relationship with Santi. She loves her big brother and what he has accomplished and she shows her love for him.
Noah on the other hand was such a player and an a**. He only wanted one thing and made it known. It took me a long time to like him even though he was sweet to Maya at times. But what really pissed me off was the fact that after admitting to Maya he wants her and she saying she can’t do casual, he hooks up with someone else! Like WTF!!! I hate reading about that in books. Once the hero realizes his attraction and want towards the heroine, he should keep it in his pants! The heroine is only allowed in there! That’s the reason the book lost stars for me. It’s usually a deal breaker and I stop reading immediately. But… as I previously stated, the writing kept me hooked. And I started liking Noah after seeing what a sweetheart and romantic he turned out to be. If you can get pass the spoiler (like I eventually did) then this book is definitely worth a read.

EXCERPT OPTIONS
OPTION #1
The air in the small room feels heavy, like all the oxygen was sucked out of it. He’s a hurricane catching me in the eye of the storm, giving me a false sense of security before the winds pick up again. A catastrophic and relentless disaster in the making.
OPTION #2
How I feel about him is messy. It doesn’t fit nicely into checked boxes or a pros and cons list. I struggle to understand my conflicting emotions, which ends up pissing me off more. Part of me wishes he could commit to trying a real relationship while another part of me thinks he’s not even worth the trouble.
OPTION #3
His tongue takes the opportunity to invade my mouth and stroke against mine, a relentless exploration demanding everything from me. He tastes like mint and champagne, a shockingly wonderful combination.
