All Of Me (Confessions of the Heart #2) by A.L Jackson

“I’m yours,” I rasped. “All of you?” he demanded. “All of me.”

Ian Jacobs is a lawyer who is on track of make ng partner at the law firm he works at. He will do anything to get to the top at whatever means necessary. He had a rough childhood. A childhood he wishes to forget. Everything was on track until he gets the hit with a case of crazy, mind numbingly hot instant lust. He meets Grace. He just wants one night. One night to devour her. One night to fuck her senseless but she resists. She pushes him away because she has a lot going on and she doesn’t want to involve him in the problems she has going on. Grace is confused with how she feels around Ian. She eventually gives in and they have insanely hot sex. But they later find out that anything between them is forbidden which make it all the more difficult to keep their hands off of each other.

“You told me in that text that you’ve never been a girl who was afraid to live her life. To step out and take a chance. And fuck, Grace, I’m standing here, right now, asking you to take a chance on me.”

They go through a lot of heart ache and some of that heart ache was caused by Ian because he doesn’t believe in anything pass a fling. He doesn’t do attachments and Grace comes with a lot of attachments. He finds himself incable of love.

“Kisses are forever, and only for the ones you love most.”

This book has me feeling confused. I don’t know how I feel. I have mixed emotions. As much as I wanted to give this book 5 stars, I can’t. There were so many pet peeves of mine in this book. I got frustrated at Ian a lot but I am anxious for Mack’s book. I love the big teddy bear already.

Mister Bodyguard (The Morgan Brothers #4)

Arc provided in exchange for an honest review

This was the first book in the Morgan Brothers series that I’ve read and honestly it was an okay book. Maybe it’s just me because a lot of people seemed to have loved this book but I just couldn’t seem to really enjoy it. It took me a really long time to finish it. The author’s writing was good but the conversation between Zander and Aloha wasn’t appealing to me. This next line really had me cringing: I’m your man- the man who’s gonna put his penis inside your happiness. Happiness really? No. Just no.
And I just hate when the hero throws the word love around with his exes even if he realises that he didn’t truly love them. That’s exactly how Zander was and to make matters worse, he was in ‘love’ with almost all his exes.
I did like that Aloha was not a timid character and the fact that she made it known that she was sexually attracted to Zander. I wish I connected more to the characters but sadly I didn’t.

The Ex Effect (Washington Wolves #2) by Karla Sorensen

Gah….. I loved this book 😍. It was beautiful and oh so refreshing. My words here will not do this book justice.

We met Ava in the bombshell effect. She is a kickass woman in charge of PR for the Washington Wolves football team. She loves her job and she is damn good at it. She has this tough girl persona and nothing rattles her cage…… besides her family. She doesn’t feel accepted by them. She feels like she is invisible and her sister, Ashley, is always front and centre. She hasn’t truly felt love from anyone until Matthew makes he feel it. Matthew is taboo for Ava. He is her sister ex-fiancé. Ava last saw Matthew when she was 18 years old. It has been 10 years. She had a major crush on him when she was going out with her sister. She always wondered what he was doing with her selfish self absorbed sister when he was the complete opposite of him.

They reconnect when he comes out of retirement to be apart of the Washington Wolves. He remembered Ava as a gangly teenager and is shocked at the beauty she has become. The rekindle their friendship but their is a fierce attraction and sexual tension simmering between them. Ava takes the plunge and makes the move and they fall into an effortless relationship. They found their homes. Their destiny. Their forever.

What I liked about this book was the Matthew didn’t deny the feelings he had for Ava’s sister and his ex wife. He moved on from them and found true happiness with Ava. I was skeptical about this book going in because the blurb made it seem like Ava is going to throw herself at Matthew and be like a puppy around him but she was this strong fiery independent woman who doesn’t feel alone anymore.

“Could I love her after only a couple of weeks?
My heart, my head, every part of me knew the answer to that question as I lifted her in my arms.
I did love her. And it clicked something into place, something that allowed me to breathe fully for the first time in thirty-five years.”

I want a Logan Ward book! And Paige! I didn’t get much of her in this book. I want more. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series.

Knights Rising (Rumblin’ Knights #1) by Bella Jewel

Arc provided in exchange for an honest review

3.5 stars

Shania has been searching for someone so she asks the local MC, Knights Rising for help. Lincoln, the man she had a one night stand with a month ago and whom she now can’t stand, wants to help her. They can’t stand each other and there’s a lot of sexual tension which makes them bicker. A lot. Lincoln is so intrigued with her, he wants to know the real reason why she’s looking for this person.

After their ONS in the beginning of the book he gave her a fake phone number😳.. obviously she didn’t leave an impression on him nor did he plan on going back to her. Personally, I don’t like that.

Every book in this series is based on a different character and that’s a problem for me as this was an open ending… like they didn’t even say I love you in this book😐. It just ended. (Although we can see that Lincoln cares for her and he’s protective of her). They will probably be featured in other books but as secondary characters. I need more, because for all I know, they not even compatible nor will they even last as a couple. To make matters worse ******spoiler****** he slept with another woman after he had sex with the heroine. Although they weren’t in a relationship yet, I can’t stand that in books.******end spoiler******

Besides these few things I don’t like, I found the story line interesting and different which kept me reading. And the author’s writing was very good.

The next book will be about Finn, Lincoln’s brother.

Hero rating: 3 stars
Heroine rating: 4 stars
Writing/plot/creativity: 4 stars
Sex scenes: 3.5 stars

Overall: 3.5 stars

Side Hustle (Dawson Family #3) by Emily Goodwin

This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. I was looking forward to reading this and it did not disappoint.

“I’m so alone and I just want my family back…though deep down I know I never really had one in the first place.”

Scarlet Cooper makes a living by conning people. It’s what she is good at. She uses her looks to get what she wants but she never takes it too far and she only goes after guys who are scumbags and unfaithful. A Modern Day Robin Hood. She uses the money to support her family. An opportunity presents itself in the form of being a nanny. She is just under the impression that she is going to be nannying to a rich couple but when she arrives she is surprised to find an incredibly sexy single dad who is just a cop.
Weston Dawson is a single dad who wife skipped town. His 4 year old son is his life. He has been managing just fine raising his son with the help of his family but he aspires to do more with his life and he needs more help so he hires a nanny. He is pleasantly suprised when he meets his bombshell of a nanny. Scarlet tries really hard not to get attached to the lil boy, Jackson, and his father but her efforts are futile. She falls for both of them. They crack her armor and chips away the ice blocking her heart.

“I should hate him, but I can’t. Because, without a doubt, Weston is making me feel.”

Wes and Jackson show Scarlet what love is. What family is. What happiness is. She was strong, fierce, caring and incredibly beautiful inside and out but it took her some time to see that.
This book pulled on my heart strings and I was truly touched by it.

“Loving you and Jackson came easy,” she whispers. “But loving myself…hell, it was hard to remotely like myself most days.”
